Book Review: Alcatraz vs. the Evil Librarians by Brandon Sanderson

Rating: 5 stars of 5

I only recently learned that Brandon Sanderson has written a series of middle grade novels. This is the first in the series and I found it utterly delightful. I laughed aloud several times as I read it.

Sanderson’s narrative voice always gives me Douglas Adams vibes. He’s silly and I love the way he takes ordinary things and makes them extraordinary using something unexpected. There are a few authors who do this extremely well and Sanderson is one of them.

I’d definitely recommend this one, both for kids and adults who want to read something lighthearted, adventurous, and fun.
