Book Review: The Bodyguard, a Novel, by Katherine Center

Rating: 4 stars of 5

The Bodyguard switches things up by making the female lead a capable, protective heroine instead of having the guy come to the girl’s rescue. It was so refreshing! I am accustomed to stories within this theme having a weak, vulnerable female who needs a man to come save her as the lead and let me tell you, those kinds of stories can be tiresome. It is one thing to have a main character who is reserved or introverted; another to make her a spineless damsel in distress. This novel, with its spunky female protagonist, was delightful!

The characters were endearing. I laughed a few times and found myself smiling at the banter quite often.

I also loved the vibrant, cheerful colors on the cover.

I took a star off my rating for the presence of language (it’s not my thing and there was quite a bit of it), but otherwise loved it.
