Facial Cleansing Oil

Working with oil-based facial cleansers instead of some of the harsher makeup removers or surfactant-based cleansers can be such a game-changer for people with sensitive skin. I know that I really enjoy working with them! Today, I am sharing one of my favorite recipes for a face cleansing oil with you.

Ingredients:

  • 2 ½ ounces sunflower seed oil (optional: infuse it with an herb like calendula)

  • ½ ounce castor oil

  • ½ ounce jojoba

  • ½ ounce rose hip seed oil

Instructions:

Add your ingredients to a 4-ounce glass bottle with either a dropper or pump top. Secure the lid and shake well until all the ingredients are mixed together.

I do not recommend adding essential oils to this product, as their presence would require you to be much more careful with the product around your eye area.

To use, place a small amount of the product on your clean hands. Massage it into the skin of the face. Rinse clean with water, then proceed with your usual skin-care routine. If you would like to, you can use the first application to remove makeup, then massage a second batch into the skin after you have rinsed the makeup off.

This blend can also be used as a leave-on moisturizer. To do this, I recommend carrying out your usual skin care routine, then placing 1-2 drops of the oil blend on your fingertips and massaging it into the skin. This works best if your skin is still a little bit damp from the application of your toner or a botanical hydrosol.

This product is formulated for external use by responsible adults. Discontinue use if any redness, irritation or other adverse reaction occurs. As formulated, it can also be safe for topical use by children and teens.
